A beautiful set of six original French Art Deco tall back blonde wood and nickeled bronze dining chairs, attributed to Rene Prou. Tall elegant backs with curvilinear top crest and shield shape lower backrest, featuring elegant sculptural cabriole front legs and tapered splay back legs. An inset nickeled bronze side bar flanks and accents the back rest, granting this chair a very unusual and unique style. These chairs are skillfully designed, well crafted and of solid construction. The cushion seats and backs in desert taupe/ mauve color naugahyde upholstery are in good vintage condition but are original and of the period. He was known as the first decorator of the modern taste. A set of eight original French Modernist / Art Deco dining chairs featuring tall elegant backs with a stepped linear top flanked with scroll, curled ends and ending in tapered shapely legs, branded Saint Etienne, manufactured by M.F. a French manufacture located in Saint Etienne, France. Overall, the chairs are angular and streamline in form. In addition to being aesthetic, the top crest is also functional and serves to protect the upholstery from finger prints when handling the chairs.
