About the Item

Stunning “Garden of Eden” settee by Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist, upholstered in eggshell white linen. Beautiful design that strikes a perfect balance between modernism and tradition. Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist was one of the first female designers to be contracted by NK and she was commissioned to modernize their range. The ”Paradis” series, created in the 1950s, became a huge success with it traditionally influenced modernist expression. It took up competition with the contemporary, heavier furniture by Carl Malmsten. The “Paradis” series includes sofas, lounge chairs and a chaise lounge which have a lightness, an organic beauty and a soft femininity that are unique in Swedish modern design.
