1988 Loveseat White Leather by Walter Leeman Memphis Style, Sormani, Italy
About the Item
Two-seat sofa "Arc-en-Ciel" by Walter Leeman for Sormani. Sculptural rounded shape with two triangular armrests, a high back and a fixed backrest cushion. It is in perfect condition, let alone a small hole in a hidden part underneath the seat. Leather condition is perfect in color and shape.
A sculptural element for entrance halls, living room reading corners, bedroom or working corners - gives privacy and confort.
This couch was presented for the first time at the last Milan Fair Sormani took part in. Only three pieces were made: two in white and one in black. The structure is in black metal and wood and the padding is white flawless leather. Measure: Seat height is 44 cm (1.44 inches). It bears a label by Sormani and is certified by the original manufacturer.

The graceful frame shares a design quality with Cassina's LC2 / LC3 design by Le Corbusier, as they are 'buckets of cushions' in similar fashion and comfort. However this Sormani sofa features some unique subtle details, such as the slight "twist" in the rear legs (see photos).
Signed with a Sormani label, this particular rare design is attributed to Claudio Salocchi. While there were several other famous designers who created works for Sormani in this time period, the style best matches Salocchi's work. For collectors looking for something unique and rare within a collection of 1960s/ 1970s Italian designs, this pair two-seater couch is an amazing opportunity.
