About the Item

This rocking chair is designed by Biermann Werner for Arte Sano. German-born designer Werner Biermann settled in Colombia in the 1930s and founded a furniture factory that brought European and Scandinavian styles to South America. The chair is made of hand-tanned cognac coloured leather with heavy sewn detail. The pegged wood frame is crafted from solid wood. White leather sewn chording binds the leather with decorative and functional stitching. It has marks on the leather, but that patina really feeds into the aesthetic. A gold foil label underneath the seat indicates the maker, material and origin. The chair sits well in mid century modern, Spanish Hacienda, English Country house snug, Ibiza vibes. Made by Biermann and Cia Inc. in Bogota, Colombia.
