Important Otto Schulz Curved Four-Seat Sofa for Boet, Sweden, Mid-1940s

About the Item

This important curved sofa was designed by Otto Schulz and produced by his company Boet in Gothenburg. The generously sized sofa can comfortably sit four people. The sofa has been newly upholstered following the measurements and details of the original upholstery, using an ivory chenille fabric by Créations Métaphores. The ivory, beige and coral yarns of this soft fabric create a subtle marbled effect. The seven legs in elm wood offer a nice and natural contrast with the fabric. The sofa looks attractive from all sides, making it perfect as a freestanding piece. The curved design was first presented at the 25-year anniversary exhibition of Boet in 1945. Given the substantial size, it was not a piece that was produced often. This particular sofa was part of a custom order for a large villa in Långedrag, a seaside district just outside Gothenburg. Literature Berghman, Arvid (editor.), Boet: 1945, Utg., Göteborg, 1945.
