About the Item

19th Century, Pair of Italian Walnut Wood Pedestal Cabinets This elegant pair of pedestal cabinets was crafted in Piedmont, in Italy, in the 19th century. Made from solid walnut wood, they feature an octagonal shape that gives them the appearance of a column. The tops of the two cabinets are made of different marbles: one is white marble, and the other is grey marble. The tops are bordered with a slightly projecting wooden reserve, which is mirrored by the base. Each cabinet features a small upper drawer and a door that hides two spacious compartments separated by a shelf. These cabinets are particularly well-suited as bases for displaying vases, cachepots, sculptures, or other objects to be showcased on pedestals. They can be placed in the center of a room or near corners, in living rooms and studies, as well as in entrances or corridors. They are equally useful as bedside tables next to beds or as small cabinets in bathrooms.
