About the Item

This German Baroque display or kitchen cabinet has a beautiful warm honey color with soft gloss and rich patina. The cabinet has wide canted corners and a stepped pediment above two glass inset doors in the upper cabinet. Note the small proportion s of the wood in the upper cabinet, maximizing the glass surface and display area. The upper cabinet has two and a half stationary scalloped edge shelves and a paneled back. The interior of both the upper and lower cabinet is not lacquered or waxed and shows its natural color. The lower cabinet has two drawers above two doors and stands on bun feet. The interior of the lower cabinet features two fixed shelves on either side. The cabinet has a very rural origin that is situated along the Mosel area in Germany and dates circa 1740. The piece is highly authentic with its original wavy drawn glass, brass drawer pulls, forged keyplates, and hinges. Due to its light color, it shows beautiful grain and a rich patina built up over many years. Condition details: The piece is in very good and authentic condition. The authentic hinges were adjusted slightly to compensate for the wear after years of use. The finish is beautiful and is a result of regularly maintaining the piece with wax. The locks and keys have been renewed a few decades ago for newly forged ones. Furthermore, the piece is authentic, even the legs. Truly remarkable and functional piece.
