English Heal and Son Victorian Gentleman's Dressing Stand

About the Item

An unusual late Victorian gentlemen’s dressing stand in satinwood by Heal and Son. The top has an arrangement of four small drawers in two separate banks flanking a circular mirror on a brass pole upright. The mirror is articulated by a bolt to the reverse allowing it to tilt whilst the pole gently swivels allowing it to be moved into a variety of positions. The mirror plate is held in place with a decorative molded frame. Beneath a spacious cupboard split by a simple internal shelf that closes with a simple button locking fixing with a turned button handle. The later addition of the teal paint to the top and plinth base complements this intriguing and unique piece. Stamped to the inside of the frieze drawer ‘Heal & Son London’. English, circa 1900.
