French 19th Century Empire St. Burl Elm, Ebony, Tulipwood, and Ormolu Cabinet

About the Item

An impressive and high quality French 19th century Empire st. burl elm, ebony, tulipwood, and ormolu cabinet. The large scale three door cabinet is raised by a straight base with an elegant ebony band and two fine tulipwood fillets. The central door displays a most decorative pierced lattice designed screen above a striking ormolu plaque of charming winged cherubs pulling Diana in a chariot on clouds. The outer doors showcase the stunning and extremely decorative burl elm wood grain with a lovely bottom ormolu mount of finely detailed flowers growing out of a cornucopia. Superb architectural columns lead upwards flanking the outer doors with most decorative ormolu plinths, capitals, and mottled caps concealing the keyhole escutcheons. Each door opens to reveal five adjustable shelves. The impressive top crown displays a unique and most decorative scroll like design and is adorned with richly chased pierced ormolu mounts of beautiful swans flanking an urn amidst scrolled foliate movements and lovely winged maidens.
