About the Item
A part of Fort Standard’s collection, “Qualities of Material”, this stone cabinet has a triangular relief pattern milled into the exterior panels, which removes excess weight and allows the remaining ribs to retain the material’s strength. The soapstone cabinet is cut from one slab of stone, so veining and other natural variations can be traced throughout the piece.
The six-door cabinet is made up of three stackable units and rests on a hard maple base with six heavy duty leveling feet.
“Qualities of Material” is a limited edition collection launched in 2016 by Fort Standard that explores natural materials to push them beyond their conventional limits and applications. The collection investigates the properties of wood, stone and leather by employing specific material characteristics to create structural designs in the context of furniture.
