Qing Dynasty 19th Century Chinese Hand Carved Armoire with Gilt Painted Panels

$5,500

About

A large Qing dynasty Chinese hand carved, painted and gilded armoire from the 19th century, with 19 panels, four doors and three removable panels revealing a secret compartment. Created in China during the Qing dynasty, this large armoire draws our attention with its four doors adorned with 16 gilded panels depicting still-life scenes on a red painted background. Each panel, unique unto itself, showcases a different scene, including one with two people being pulled in a rickshaw under a sea of flags, another with women having a discussion around a table and numerous others with floral scenes, some with vases. Below the doors sit three additional panels featuring fish motifs. The doors open to reveal three shelves and four drawers for storage. This Qing dynasty 19th century Chinese hand carved and gilded armoire will bring an elegant presence to any home, whether placed in a bedroom for storing linens or clothes or in a living room.
