COMPANY HISTORY The firm of Holland & Sons (1803–1942) became from 1843 one of the largest and most successful cabinet makers, and a rival to Gillows of Lancaster and London. The company's labelled Day books are now housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum Archive of Art and Design where they present a virtual 'who's who' of nineteenth century society. Established in 1803 by Stephen Taprell and William Holland, a relation of the architect Henry Holland (architect). Always on the leading edge of fashion, Holland & Sons employed some of England's foremost designers and participated in all of the International Exhibitions of 1851, 1855, 1862, 1867, 1872 and 1878. Holland and Sons also participated in many of the leading international exhibitions including London in 1862, Vienna in 1873 and Paris in 1867 and 1872. After a brief period in which the company was known as Taprell, Holland & Son c.1835-43, William Holland gained sole command after the senior partner Taprell's retirement. From 1843 onwards they were known as Holland and Sons. The relationship between builder and cabinet maker is similar to another leading Victorian firm, Trollope and Sons. Their earliest known commission was to furnish the Athenaeum Club, London, 1824- 1838. They also worked alongside the prestigious firm of Thomas Dowbiggin at Osborne House, and eventually took over their premises and business at 23 Mount Street, London in 1851 and 1853 respectively. In 1851, when the company was based in Mount Street and employed 351 people, they won a prize at the Great Exhibition for a bookcase. By then, after being granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment (United Kingdom) early in the reign of Queen Victoria, they had already taken a leading part in the decoration and furnishing of Osborne House, Sandringham House, Balmoral Castle, Windsor Castle and the apartments of the Prince and Princess of Wales at Marlborough House...

A very fine and rare burr walnut and walnut double domed cupboard; Holland, circa 1700. Resting on bracket feet, the base has two large drawers a pair of half - width drawers, protruding on the bottom and inlaid with cross banded geometric ornament. The doors have elegant protruding curly serpentine - shaped walnut ornament and are topped with finely carved low - relief walnut lambrequins in the Régence style under the double domed cornice. Each dome has an elegant molding transforming in its centre into a richly carved bracket. Together with the flat - topped corners and centre, these were meant to support a Chinese porcelain or Delft glazed earthenware set of 5 blue - and -white vases, called a ' kaststel ' in Dutch. The interior is typically executed in oak, with three interior drawers and shelves behind the cupboard doors. As was often the case, the bronze handles and keyholes were replaced later in the 18th century by more contemporary Louis XVI models. The interior drawers however, where it was not felt important as they were invisible when the doors were closed, still keep their original handles. The double dome is a rare feature in Dutch walnut cabinets...

This modern organic record console by Carlo Stenta is made of multiple elm wood slabs milled from a single elm tree. The record console case features skillfully crafted dividers that are sized with exactitude, allowing one to move their fingers through the vinyl collection with ease. The base is charred to a rich black tone using Recovery’s modern interpretation of Shou Sugi Ban. Più che un mobile è una scultura molto pregiata perché realizzata in un blocco unico di legno di Albizia Rosa pianta parassita e infestante che cresce alle Seychelles. Mauro Mori (Cremona 1965) ha viaggiato molto fin dalla sua giovinezza ed esprime le sue percezioni dei suoi viaggi attraverso la sua innata creatività manuale. La sua opportunità di incontrare persone e culture, lingue diverse e luoghi insoliti forniscono le idee su cui si basa la sua ricerca e sono espresse nelle sue forme personalizzate funzionali e figurative. Le forme sono semplici come lo stampo della mano che le crea. I materiali con la strega Mauro Mori crea le sue opere uniche sono diventati dal nostro patrimonio naturale, esaltando ciò che la Natura ha creato. Le sue opere sono modellate direttamente dalle mani e non dalle macchine, quindi portano valori emotivi e affettivi. I blocchi solidi di materiale naturale, spesso lavorati nei loro luoghi di origine, come l'Albizia Rosa delle Seychelles o il marmo, raccolti a mano e lavorati direttamente a Carrara, sono le origini delle forme uniche fatte a mano. La plasticità dei materiali, il lavoro di rilievo su di essi e l'artigianato previsto ed evidente costituiscono il filo conduttore che attraversa tutto il suo lavoro e rivela la forma desiderata attraverso un processo di sottrazione. La sua costante ricerca e sviluppo è dimostrata anche dal lavoro sui metalli, che sono lavorati in forma di lastra e rifiniti con ossidazioni e patine. Nel 1994 ha avviato un'attività in proprio e nel 1998 ha inaugurato il suo atelier, Mauro Mori Studio. Nel gennaio 2014 ha fondato Hand©, un'associazione no-profit che aiuta persone, artisti e artigiani, in uno stress di disagio fisico, economico o di altro tipo. I mobili e le sculture d'arte di Mauro Mori sono divisi per tema: Edizione limitata, opere esclusive in materiali preziosi creati in edizioni limitate numerate con certificati di autenticità. Una galleria unica di opere d'arte uniche. Illimitato, raccoglie opere riproducibili e sviluppate anche su scale speciali. Sculture, selezione di alcune opere su larga scala: forme tridimensionali che si trovano autonome nello spazio. E una preziosa collezione di sculture di piccole dimensioni in edizione limitata. Sculture murali, rilievi alti e bassi in vari materiali. Opere tridimensionali ottenute con supporti misti su metallo o su legno. Il colore normalmente utilizzato durante la pittura viene sostituito da acidi per ossidare, per cambiare il tono e i colori dei materiali. Anche in questo caso viene utilizzato un processo di sottrazione per ottenere segni marcati che permettono di essere attraversati dagli occhi dell'osservatore. Progetto, esattamente personalizzato per adattarsi al paesaggio, tagliando e componendo elementi in legno o metallici, che i suggerimenti naturali e culturali del contesto si trasformano in un'inevitabile fonte di ispirazione.
