18th Century Italian Baroque Painted Bombe Two-Door Corner Cabinet

About the Item

This colorful antique "encoignure" was created in Italy, circa 1780. The corner cabinet which can also hang on a wall, depicts a painted biblical scene of the presentation of John the Baptist's head to Salome in front of the temple (Matthew:14) in a Renaissance style. The beheading of Saint John the Baptist was carried out by the orders of Herod Antipas through the vengeful request of his step-daughter Salome and her mother. The cabinet features two bowed front doors that open to reveal four interior shelves. The unique piece is in wonderful condition with its original paint and hardware. Measures: 23.75" W x 16" D x 36.5" H.
