French 18th Century Louis XV Period French Desk in Kingwood and Tulipwood

About the Item

An extremely high quality French 18th century Louis XV period kingwood, tulipwood and ormolu desk, signed ‘Bernard Ebeniste’. This most elegant desk is raised by slender cabriole legs with fine pierced wrap around fitted foliate sabots. Beautiful chutes lead up each leg to richly chased foliate corner mounts and a delicate fillet which extends up each leg and along the scalloped shaped sides. At the front are three drawers each decorated with beautiful inlaid designs, stunning intricately detailed foliate pulls and keyhole escutcheon separated by charming pierced foliate elements. Above is the original patinated leather top fitted within a mottled ormolu gallery with fine corner mounts. Each ormolu mount is signed ‘CTP’. Exceptional quality throughout and all original gilt.
