French 18th Century Louis XV Period Rosewood And Bronze Desk

About the Item

A most elegant French 18th century Louis XV period Rosewood and bronze desk. The desk is raised by four elegant tapered cabriole legs with fine scrolled acanthus leaf designed feet and beautiful richly carved seashell reserves at each corner. The scalloped shaped frieze displays a most decorative wrap around raised mottled fillet at the border and three drawers at the front. The outer drawers display a beautiful curved design with elegant bronze pulls while each display richly chased foliate keyhole escutcheons. The right drawer opens to reveal the charming original fitted removable wood insert. Above is the original gold tooled fitted brown leather writing surface framed within a scalloped Rosewood border with rounded corners. All original patina throughout.

The desk is raised by elegant circular tapered fluted legs with fine fitted ormolu sabots and richly chased fitted foliate chandelles.
