French 19th Century Louis XV Style Tulipwood and Kingwood Ladies Writing Desk

About the Item

An elegant French 19th century Louis XV St. tulipwood and kingwood ladies writing desk. The desk is raised by four slender cabriole legs with fine wrap-around ormolu sabots, kingwood and tulipwood inlaid chutes and striking richly chased pierced ormolu corner mounts. The scalloped-shaped apron displays three faux decorative tulipwood drawers framed in kingwood. Each drawer with decorative ormolu keyhole escutcheons, below a lovely pull-out writing surface with the original fitted gold-tooled burgundy leather. At each side of the desk is a drawer with an ormolu pull. Above, framed in a mottled ormolu gallery is the original brown leather gold tooled top.
