About

Early 1950s sideboard created by Umberto Mascagni of Bologna, Italy, imported to the UK by I. Barget and retailed through Harrod's, London, 1952-1955. Mascagni was known for his provocative use of new materials in furniture designs such as skai (PVC) and aluminium. The padded skai exterior which presents as a white vellum parchment is trimmed with polished aluminium. Rectangular case on four tapered legs. Three locking doors, each having inset mirror on the reverse of each door. Left and right are open compartments fully lined like the exterior; middle door opens to reveal three drawers lined with blue textured skai. Legs, which are also wrapped in black skai with vertical inlaid aluminium stripe, can be removed for ease of transport.

This sideboard is part of a complete dining set we are selling separately. Matching two-door sideboard, dining table and eight chairs also available.
