About the Item

A large antique Chinese late Qing Dynasty period elmwood armoire from the early 20th century, with two doors, bronze medallion hardware, hidden drawers and carved apron. Created in China during the later years of the Qing Dynasty in the 20th century, this large armoire is made of elmwood, with the grain enhanced by a natural color varnish. The armoire showcases a linear silhouette and stands on four straight legs connected to one another through a carved apron in the front. The doors are fitted with a traditional Chinese lock set on a large circular medallion (a modern replacement), and open thanks to two leaf-shaped pulls on delicately carved back plates. Inside, the armoire presents a three-toned interior with two hidden drawers and two shelves. This late Qing dynasty period Chinese large elmwood armoire with round medallion hardware will make for an elegant storage unit in most homes, especially in a den where it would be ideal to store books and documents.
