About the Item

A Louis XV Carved Oak Armoire, originating from Normandy France during the second half of the 18th Century. The case consists of a carved frieze and paneled doors above a shaped apron, all resting atop cabriole feet. Most notable is the top crest which is adorned with a deeply carved basket of flowers and fruit, and the center door panels carved with doves and grapevines. Reference: "The Antiques Directory: Furniture" by Judith Miller & Martin Miller, pg. 489, example E8 for an example of a Normandy armoire very similiar to this one.
