About the Item

An impressive early 20th-century Renaissance Revival wardrobe. Inspired by the grandeur of the 15th- and 16th-century Italian Renaissance, the piece showcases deeply carved detailing, including foliate scroll work, stylized leaves, and grotesque masks or lion-like figures adorning the stiles—hallmarks of the Renaissance Revival style. The wardrobe features three doors, with the center door originally fitted with a mirrored panel (currently removed and safely stored on top, as shown). Behind the right door are four pull-out shelves, while the central section offers three pull-out shelves and three drawers—perfect for smaller garments or accessories. The left compartment includes a clothes rod and a shelf with a hinged section that opens to reveal a hidden compartment. With its richly ornamented façade and thoughtfully designed storage, this wardrobe is as functional as it is striking—ideal for anyone seeking a statement piece that delivers exceptional organization and utility. Made by WM RICHARDSON LTD. HOUSE & OFFICE FURNISHERS LEEDS & BRADFORD. WM Richardson Ltd. was a furniture company based in Leeds and Bradford, Yorkshire. The company traces its roots to William Richardson, a master joiner and cabinet maker active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. By 1908, the business operated under the name William Richardson (Furnisher) Ltd., with addresses at 7 & 12 Park Lane and Centenary Street in Leeds.
