Dutch Renaissance Style Stained Oak Table, circa 1680

About the Item

This beautiful renaissance table is made in the finest quality solid European summer oak in the Netherlands around 1680 It is a typical dutch renaissance table (so called bolpoottafel) with it’s turned legs and carved apron. The panelled tabletop shows beautiful oak grain with deep gloss. The table is very sturdy due to the stretchers at its base. All pegs used to lock in the mortise and tenon joints are visible. In the 17th century a table was a multi purpose piece of furniture. It was used for a variety of conducts such as diner, sowing, writing etc. Therefore the table was moved around a lot. It’s construction made these tables to last throughout the years. It shows many marks of use and has built up great patina over the last 350 years. This table has a beautiful cherry color stain and shell laquer with beeswax finish. The table has been carefully checked in our workshop and is ready for use as a desk, sidetable or center table in your interior.
