Antique Spanish Baroque Chestnut writing table or desk with turned legs
About the Item
This beautiful antique late 19th-century Spanish Baroque desk or writing table is made of solid chestnut wood with bold-turned legs joined by wrought iron stretchers. The table features two drawers with a geometric carved front and forged steel drop drawer pull. The drawers can be locked by a centrally placed lock, that locks both drawers simultaneously. The apron shows the same intricate carvings as the drawer fronts. The top is made from 1.77-inch thick planks with a beautiful grain and nice character to the wood. The table was stained in a warm brown color and coated with a few layers of clear varnish and a waxed finish that has gained a rich and warm patina over the years. The table was gently cleaned in our atelier and a new protective wax coat was applied. The table is clean, solid, and ready for use.
