Antique 19th century dark brown chestnut baroque dining table with lyre legs

About the Item

On offer here is a beautiful Spanish dining table made from solid chestnut. The table originates in rural Spain and dates from approximately 1870. The table features a beautiful 1,5 inch-thick top made up of two boars of chestnut that display a beautiful grain pattern along with many small marks of use. The table top was jointed to its legs by the use of dovetail connections. The lyre-shaped legs are further fixed to the top by the use of two hand-forged steel strut bars as is common on these tables. The triangular shape between the top, legs, and strut bar makes the table very solid. This was made in this manner as the table was moved around the house often as well as inside to the outdoors. The sturdy construction guaranteed a solid table. The table has a very dark warm brown color with many small marks of, fantastic patina and deep gloss. The table was gently cleaned in our atelier and a new protective wax coat was added. The table is now clean, solid, and ready for use.
