Rare and beautiful Italian coffee table circa 1968-1972 featuring a pair of beautiful fluid serpentine forms handcrafted and forged from heavy solid (ie NOT plated) brass bar of 0.7874" or 22mm cross section, amazing and very heavy quality. supporting the original 0.394" / 10mm thick glass top which has rounded edges. The two sculptural form brass supports can be arranged in a variety of positions to suit your own artistic inclination.
I have not encountered this amazing design before but am confident from the very high quality artisan craftmanship and hand forging combined with the use of expensive and heavy solid brass bar that this is an Italian boutique gallery production from Rome and hence from a very small and exclusive edition.
A plethora of small, high end boutique galleries grew up in Rome through the late 1960s to mid-1970s period specialising in high end sleek modern designs ,artisan crafted in brass and chrome, names such as Romeo Rega, L'angolometalarte, Trialogo and Vivai del Sud spring to mind as well as design icons such as Gabriella Crespi and Willy Rizzo.
We have hand polished the brass but have not polished it to a high luster as we chose to maintain some of the original patination as proof of age and originality.
