Large Modern Oval Table 1000 Kilos Marble by Roos Schneijderberg

About the Item

This large modern oval 1000 kg Carrara marble conference or dining table is designed by female artist and conceptual designer Roos Schneijderberg. The exceptional table is called THE SIZE DOES MATTER. The one of a kind table forms a bold yet sophisticated and impressive center piece. On the table top and on one side of the table base, a slender shaped black triangular figure - made of powder-coated stainless steel - is visible creating a slightly rebellious - almost 80's or 90's - look and highlighting the movement and unevenness in the design. Different from usual, this very large and heavy marble table does not have multiple support points but only a single table base, which also has an inclined slope to create the association of movement and airiness. To make this possible, a special stainless steel inner structure was specially designed. Please keep in mind that this table weighs approximately two thousand pounds. Should you require a custom design please contact us to discuss requirements and possibilities. This bold table THE SIZE DOES MATTER was designed by female artist and conceptual designer Roos Schneijderberg. Roos Schneijderberg (Zoetermeer, 1977) is a Dutch multidisciplinary creative. Introspection, femininity, and a refined abrasive interaction between imperfection and aestheticism are recurring themes in her oeuvre. Her work includes conceptual furniture, sculptures, mixed media objects, video installations, paintings, poems and scenery creations. Her style is sophisticated yet bold presented with some serious lightness. Her background in advertising and psychology paved the way for her conceptual thinking and the emotion based messages in her works.

Brutalist Black Marble Triangular Table by Roos Schneijderberg - Unique
By Roos Schneijderberg
Located in Rotterdam, ZH
This contemporary modern brutalist black marble triangular desk or center piece table is designed by female artist and conceptual designer Roos Schneijderberg. This brutalist black savage piece called B.C BLACK CREATION BEFORE CHRIST emits a fierce energy, that miraculously cuts primitively-sophisticated through the surrounding space, like an appealing yet repelling knife, harmless but with a perceptible menacing presence. The irregular triangular tabletop as well as the mirror shards and the pointy drips of the melted recycled plastic in the table base, intentionally raise associations of threatening sharpness, brutal primitive burned wood, and solidified lava. It makes the B.C BLACK CREATION BEFORE CHRIST table almost uncivilised but Roos Schneijderberg knows how to unite multiple opposing energies into one particular piece. Besides sharpness and primitiveness there is also the association of luxury and sophistication through the marble, as well as perfection, and solidness versus ugliness, sloppiness, worthlessness, and rawness. Thousands-year-old-Before-Christ-stone versus the transiency of modern waste, by using melted recycled plastic and pieces of broken mirrors. This table holistically unites various contrasts into one balanced and exciting whole. Notice that the three shards of mirror glass incorporated in the base create a kind of optical-illuminating crevices and cavities in the dark, black table base, as openings to transformation. Does one value the beauty of imperfection and see the necessity of dirt, darkness, and chaos, to come to creation, beauty, and lightness? As burned soil manured will be the most fertile. The B.C BLACK CREATION BEFORE CHRIST table, refers to the un-illuminated source of all being, including the unrefined primitive nature of mankind, like inner darkness, and destruction to come to creation and transformation. The need for dirt, darkness, and destruction to revive, grow and to create. ‘There is no beautiful surface without a terrible depth' Friedrich Nietzsche. A philosophical message incorporated in a conceptual table, making B.C BLACK CREATION BEFORE CHRIST besides a brutal and bold also a refined and profound piece about the genesis of creation. B.C BLACK CREATION BEFORE CHRIST is hand-crafted and one of a kind. It was designed by conceptual designer and artist Roos Schneijderberg. The materials; black marble, melted sustainable recycled plastic and recycled mirror...
