Japanese Antique Large Low Table 1900s-1940s / Sofa Table Wabi Sabi

About the Item

Since ancient times, people have created necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, inherited them, and nurtured their lifestyle and culture. Over the years, tools acquire a unique flavor and reflect the way of life. The more severe the natural environment and the weaker we are, the stronger the power of tools becomes. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly re-creating things around us by modifying them opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we have carefully selected beautiful, powerful, and unique Japanese antiques. This is a very old large low table. It is a separate type of table where the board and legs can be split. The furniture is from the early Showa period (1900s-1940s). The board is made of Japanese horse chestnut. The thickness of the top is about 65mm, very thick. It is a precious single piece of wood. The legs are made of cedar wood. It has a handle for easy carrying. The overall impression is simple but powerful and dynamic. It is a very rare piece of Japanese furniture with a wabi-sabi aesthetic. Weight Wooden board: approx. 35 kg Legs (2 pieces): 11.5 kg
