About the Item
Dressing stands such as this were found in the boudoir or bedroom of French ladies of fashion in the early 19th Century. This Empire dressing table has a white marble top and ormolu (gilt brass) mounts and knobs, all original. The piece is hand crafted of French polished mahogany and figured mahogany veneer with French oak secondary wood. The table has one large drawer with dividers and two long candle drawers below the mirror. The mirror tilts and has its original back. The height to the top of the marble surface is 30.50 inches.
