Important Tuscan School Old Master painting in oil on a hand shaved wood panel. It represents the iconic theme of the Virgin and St. Anne with Christ Child and the Infant St. John the Baptist. The presentation of the Child Christ naked, unveiled, represents the Renaissance dogma of the incarnation. All details and harmonic
principles of this composition point, almost certainly, to the 17th century Florentine School. Condition is good. The wood panel is cracked throughout the height of the painting, but has been earlier repaired and reinforced with a linen stabilizer.
