About the Item

This elegant 19th‑century oil portrait painting presents the aristocrat Adam Franz Bernhard, Baron von Hirschberg, Lord of the condominium at Ebnath and Schwarzenreuth and Royal Bavarian Lieutenant Colonel (1783–1864). He is dressed in a full military uniform, wearing a Bavarian gorget for officers, model 1837 along with several distinguished orders, reflecting his status and decorated service. On the reverse of the portrait, a handwritten inscription notes: "Copied from the original in Weihersberg“ tracing their lineage to the originals in Weihersberg. This is a valuable provenance detail that reinforces both his identity and the historical authenticity of the work. The slightly pastose surface reveals subtle visible brushstrokes, adding texture and depth to the artwork. Created around 1870, it shows signs of age and is framed as a pendant, meant to be displayed together with the matching portrait of his wife, Charlotte Baroness von Hirschberg (see other listing). This unique European artwork brings aristocratic history and character into any interior.
