19th Century Framed Oil on Canvas of Still Life is an intriguing work, signed by the as yet unidentified artist. Representing a combination of techniques, the artist has skillfully blended the color palette in transition from background to subject. Using a muted light source, shadows enhance definition of the finer details. Celebrating the enjoyment of the bounty of the earth, seafood, citrus and varieties of grapes are all represented, making for an exceptional picnic lunch! Oysters were considered a delicacy in most of Europe at the time, as refrigerated transport had yet to be modernized. Survives in its intricately crafted gilded frame. Minor repairs & professional restorations completed by our expert in-house staff.
