19th Century Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Guillaume Lauters (1809–1889) is a particularly interesting work by the artist, known for his grand landscapes. Here he has created the landscape as a backdrop for the added influence of rural life and human interest. In glorifying the rural life, Lauters has brought life to a simpler time, before the days of mechanization and technology. The peaceful pastoral scene depicts members of a rural family going about their daily business surrounded by the majesty of nature herself, with thatched-roof cottages for shelter, and carts powered by actual horsepower! Survives in its original frame and signed by the artist, it displays a remarkable state of preservation. Circa 1880s Measures 31H x 38W x 2D
