Antique framed oil painting on canvas by Jean Matthieu Jamsin (1882-1965) is a classic example of the pastoral work wherein the artist has been captivated by a particularly beautiful woodland scene alongside a rock-strewn creek. The naturalistic forms that the trees depict act like markers along the creek, and the artist has chosen to concentrate on the lower forest canopy with only a hint of the sky overhead. One is invited into the composition, where one would find the perfect place for an enjoyable picnic! Signed by the artist.
