Stunning oil painting "Ballerina" executed by Fried Pal in the 1940s,this painting is exemplary of the pictorial style of the author,whose portraiture combines a soft naturakistic rendering with a pictorial hatching of impressionistic ancestry.As we can see in this ballerina the artist is able to achieve a total naturalistic rendering of the complexion,blurring the surfaces with a gentle play of shadows.Different is the attitude towards the little dress,for which even the same tulle fabric lends itself to a quick,immediate treatment.An impressionistic hatching charged with luminous vibrations more appropriate to represent the light reflections and movements in the space of the tutu.

Pal Fried was a naturalized American Hungarian painter and printmaker, born in Budapest on June 22, 1893. He studied at the Royal Hungarian Academy of Arts and Crafts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 1921, he moved to New York City where he began his career as a magazine and book illustrator. During the 1930s, Fried devoted himself primarily to oil painting and printmaking, creating works that reflected the Art Deco style of the time.
Fried became known for his works depicting elegant and sophisticated women, often in urban settings or luxurious interiors. His etching techniques were highly refined and experimental, often using the etching technique. Throughout his career, Fried exhibited in numerous shows in both the United States and Europe.
Pal Fried died in New York on July 26, 1976, but his work continues to be appreciated and collected worldwide.

Pal Fried
Pál Fried (16 June 1893 in Hungary – 6 March 1976 in New York City) was a Hungarian artist best known for his eroticized paintings of female dancers and nudes. Pál Fried was born in Budapest in 1893. He received his art education at the Académie hongroise des arts (Hungarian Academy of Arts) where he was a pupil of Hugo Pohl who became one of his major influences. While under Pohl's direction, he executed many portraits of female nudes and Orientalist works. Later he studied in Paris at the Académie Julian, where he was the pupil of Claude Monet and Lucien Simone. In Paris, he was greatly influenced by the French Impressionists, especially Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Edgar Degas. This inspired him to prepare many paintings of ballerinas, dancers and circus performers.Fried emigrated to the United States in 1946 after World War II, where he taught at the New York Academy of Art. He prepared portraits of American celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe. Through his work in portraiture, he gained considerable financial success.He became a U.S. citizen in 1953. He lived in Los Angeles and New York City and died on 6 March, 1976 in New York, NY. He worked in oils and pastels and experimented with light and movement. His oil paintings were usually of dancers, nudes, and portraits, and while his subjects were primarily female, he also painted Paris, seascapes, cowboys and landscapes of the American West as well as Orientalist subject matter. He signed his paintings, as is usual in Hungarian, with his surname first as "Fried Pál". At times, this particular artist would make several, almost identical versions of the same oil painting, except he would use slightly different facial expressions and/or would try different colour schemes.

Grisot was born in Paris, he was a French post-Impressionist artist who was a member of the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. Grisot painted in a light-hearted style that was all his own.
Whether he was painting fashionable ladies of the day, nudes or flowers, his work was always full of colour and life and was very different from the styles of his contemporary painters. His paintings now serve as vintage reminders of the style of the mid 20th Century. One of the most enduring features of Grisot's work was his brilliant use of color and his evocative renditions of the female visage.
Grisot was born in 1911 in Paris. Grisot worked as an engineer but gave up this career and moved to Paris, where he studied painting for a year at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs. After this he studied at the prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, where he obtained his diploma as a drawing teacher. Grisot taught drawing and painting for many years, but he also gave up this work to be able to paint freely.
The first exhibition of Grisot's paintings took place in Paris in 1942. In 1951 he received a prize for engraving and in 1952 the French government awarded him a scholarship for a stay of several months in Tunisia.
At that time the museum of Besançon acquired two of his works. Grisot took part in many exhibitions of paintings in Paris, especially in the Salons des Independants and with the group of "The Paris School", where he exhibited together with artists such as Vlaminck, Raoul Dufy and Villon.
