About the Item
This is an atmospheric antique oil on canvas landscape painting with motive on an old barn by a small dirt road surrounded by fields. A building in the background with a windmill is typical for the northwestern countries in old times.
The broken text piece on the back is in Danish and contains the words "KISUMS" (genitive of Kisum, a place in Sealand, Denmark), "LADEN" (the barn) and "HESTE" (horses).
The painting is from August 1919 and signed "H. Schmidt" in the bottom right corner.
The painting is in good condition with some stains in the paint according to age, mostly in the blue sky (please see the close up photos). It is framed in a gold painted wooden frame with substantial wear (see photo collage).
