A skilled English painter from the mid-19th century painted this lovely pair of watercolors. They exemplify the traditional style of the era, with light and airy backgrounds that focus the viewer's attention on the two women. Each painting captures small nuances of the subject's clothing, features, and demeanor. By the dress and hairstyles, of the ladies, these two paintings can be dated to the 1840s. Both paintings are framed in original period wood frames. Condition: Despite their age, the paintings remain in remarkably good condition, with only slight fading and toning to the paper, adding to their charm and character.
