Axel Salto (1889-1961) for Royal Copenhagen. Large and impressive ceramic sculpture of a deer. Art Deco style. Model number 20697. Approximately from 1940. Marked. Perfect condition. First factory quality. Dimensions: H 41.0 cm x W 29.0 cm x D 12.5 cm. Axel Salto (1889-1961), was a Danish painter, graphic designer, illustrator and ceramic artist. Today is known as one of the finest masters of 20th-century modern ceramic art. He collaborated with the manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl, later with Carl Hallier at his Frederiksberg studio, then briefly with Saxbo ceramics, and finally with Royal Copenhagen, where he was a designer from 1933 until the 1950s.
