Kerry Armstrong is a self‑taught Melbourne-based Abstract Expressionist whose large, emotive canvases reflect deeply personal moments and subconscious impressions of her life. Initially a corporate account director, she embraced painting full-time after being diagnosed with a brain tumour—art became both therapy and lighthouse through fear and uncertainty. Working primarily in oil on high-quality Belgian linen, she paints “episodic glimpses” — raw emotional snapshots that guide her gestural compositions driven by music and instinct. Post-operation, her series “Just Before Sleep” and “Storms Come Early” explore themes of vulnerability, solitude, gratitude, and the delicate boundary between consciousness and subconscious. Armstrong also founded Studio Gallery Group, spanning multiple Australian cities, committed to showcasing and mentoring emerging artists. Her work aims to evoke a resonant dialogue, offering viewers a chance for introspection.
