Contemporary Black & White Orig Painting Abstract by Designer George Machado
About the Item
This is a large contemporary black and white geometric abstract by George Teixeira Machado. Inspired by the Beverly Hills movie mogul homes in the 50s and sixties, it has a vintage late 1950s style to this work. He visited many of those homes of directors, producers and studio heads in Trousdale Estates, Bel Air and Beverly Hills in the 80s - 80s living and working in the fashion industry. This is an 40”W x 40”H acrylic on recycled canvas. Bleach wood frame is re-used vintage.
George T Machado was a well known men’s fashion designer for 25 plus years. After moving to Palm Springs in 1999, he opened an interior design retail shop and started doing art at age 64 after decades of wanting to paint and create art. These are the early paintings done by Machado. Working obsessively on one painting a month he still continues to paint in his retirement in Palm Springs.
