About the Item

Watercolour on paper, title and motif 'Off the Isle of Wight", dated a tergo 1863. By maritime painter Edoardo Federico de Martino. The Sorrento born painter had been an officer in the Italian Navy and went to London to serve Queen Victoria as a painter to the british army. Painter in Ordinary to Edward VII. Original frame, with smaller losses.
