About the Item
A stunning and most impressive Flemish late 17th century/early 18th century oil on canvas painting possibly by Frans Francken III. The beautiful and wonderfully executed painting depicts the story of Jephthah's Daughter, with Jephthah on his horse to the right with his soldiers behind him while to the left is his daughter being followed by a group of maidens. Set in its striking and most decorative original giltwood frame with richly carved scrolled foliate designs and a wrap around mottled band. Painted on a copper plate, but is now mounted on board.
