About the Item
A sensational and large scale Italian 18th century oil on canvas from the Piedmont region. The beautiful painting is set in its original polychrome frame which displays a lovely carved beaded design. The wonderfully executed painting depicts personages in boats, dressed in period attire playing musical instruments while being guided by winged cherubs with trumpets, on a choppy sea. In the background is a most impressive castle at the top of a cliff. In the foreground are two finely detailed figures admiring and discussing. Wonderful execution and beautiful vivid colors throughout.
