About the Item
We kindly invite you to read the entire description, as it provides detailed technical and historical information essential to ensuring the authenticity of our items.
This is an oil painting on canvas, created in France in 1988, as indicated by the date written beneath the artist’s signature. Unfortunately, we do not have any information about the artist. The canvas has recently been mounted on a sturdy wooden frame and completed with a thin, light-colored border.
The painting was executed using a mixed technique that combines brush and palette knife work. The artist initially used traditional brushes but then decisively switched to a palette knife, allowing for a dense and textured application of color. This technique gives the painting remarkable depth and a distinctive tactile quality. The artistic style is inspired by Abstract Art, which does not depict reality in a figurative manner but instead conveys concepts through the interplay of shapes, colors, and lines. The concept of "abstraction" is broad and refers to the process by which the human intellect represents reality by focusing only on select characteristics. The fundamental principle of Abstract Art is that it does not need to imitate reality. This piece specifically belongs to the movement of Geometric Abstraction, also known as Concrete Art, where geometric forms—though subtle and not strictly defined—take precedence, along with the use of primary colors. This artistic current developed primarily in the 20th century, drawing inspiration from Cubism and the works of artists such as Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky. The painting appears to explore simple geometric shapes combined with colors that create strong visual contrasts. The interaction between shapes, symbols, and hues also suggests an influence from Symbolist art, which seeks to go beyond mere representation of visible reality to express deeper meanings. The artwork’s harmonious composition and vibrant colors convey a remarkable aesthetic appeal and an engaging energy. These qualities give the painting a lively freshness and a high decorative value, making it easy to place in any room of the home.

This frame encloses a canvas cutout from an antique oil painting and is particularly unique and distinctive. It was recently crafted by a Florentine Master cabinetmaker whose workshop is located in the most charming and vibrant district of Florence, San Frediano, renowned for its artisan shops that produce entirely handmade works. The Master used carved and shaped wood to replicate the appearance of bamboo, employing a technique known as "faux bamboo." This process involves using durable woods, such as maple or oak, that are intricately carved and then painted to achieve the desired effect. The "faux bamboo" technique has a history that dates back several centuries and gained significant popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries in Europe and America, eras marked by a fascination with exotic and Oriental design influences. This technique was particularly associated with the Chinoiserie style, an artistic movement inspired by Chinese art and aesthetics. At the time, real bamboo furniture...
