About the Item

A superb and most decorative Italian 19th century Malachite, Black Belgian marble and Ebony micro mosaic plaque. This intricately detailed micro mosaic plaque is centered by an exquisite depiction of the Roman Forum, which includes notable landmarks such as the Arch of Septimius Severus(left), the Temple of Saturn (right) and Temple of Castor and Pollux (middle) surrounded by a black Belgian marble background and Malachite band. This impressive plaque is framed within a mottled edge Ebony frame with tasteful decorations of gilded berried laurel vine carvings along the border.
