Fetherolf (1925-1994) - "Memories" - Extraordinary 'American Western' fine art winter landscape oil painting on canvas - exacting detail throughout - signed lower left - titled on the stretcher - remnants of the original exhibition label taped to the back of the stretcher - contained in the original gallery / exhibition giltwood frame with linen liner and gold fillet (as chosen by the artist) - United States - late 20th century.
Excellent pre-owned / vintage condition - no loss - no damage - no restoration - minor scuffs, gilding loss and infill to the original giltwood frame - minimal signs of age and use.

James A. Fetherolf is much celebrated for his sweeping landscape paintings with dramatic skies depicting the American West. Born in Pennsylvania, he moved to Los Angeles with dreams of becoming an actor. He started painting backgrounds for Hollywood movies for 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney Studios. In his spare time he painted landscapes - eventually leaving the film industry to concentrate on fine art full time.
