About the Item
Oil on canvas portraits of a Victorian boy and girl set against an outdoor landscape..
The boy in nicely tailored attire of white pants and black jacket with brass buttons. His cap neatly placed on the adjacent log as he prepares to whittle the branch in his hand. He is well groomed with angelic facial features and sits against a landscape background.
Signed lower right and dated 1864.
The girl is shown wearing a yellow dress, red sweater with scalloped trim and holding a blue ribboned hat & flowers, her petticoat peeking out from beneath the skirt. Her sweet face with large blue eyes and just the hint of a smile. She is standing on a dirt path with a similar background with a river, rolling hills and brush.
Signed on verso and dated 1863.
Both are presented in matching stained wood frames.

Condition: Please see detail photos. Various signs of age including crackalure, slight 1/2" tear above girl's head, wear and scratches to frames, still retaining a fine Folk Art presentation.
