Large Impressionist style floral still life painting. Bouquet of bright yellow
and orange zinnias and pink and white phlox in a pottery vase. The unsigned painting is probably of French origin. It was executed in the 1940s in oil on board. Original period giltwood frame and painting are in very good condition.

Provenance: Private French collection
Possibly the work of Jean Esme Oregon Cooke RA was an English painter of still lifes, landscapes, portraits and figures. She was a lecturer at the Royal Academy and regularly exhibited her works, including the summer Royal Academy exhibitions. She was commissioned to make portraits by Lincoln College and St Hilda's College, Oxford. Her works are in the National Gallery, Tate and the Royal Academy collections. In the early years of her marriage, she signed her works Jean Bratby.
