Mid-Century English Framed Hand Colored Hunting Scene Print

About the Item

Decorate a ranch or a hunting lodge with this elegant framed antique watercolor. Crafted in England circa 1950, and set in a burl wood frame, the scene shows men on horseback with a pack of hunting dogs in pursuit, a common subject in British sporting art; the print is further protected with a glass. The print appears to be from an earlier period, possibly a reproduction of a 19th-century work, based on the style and subject matter. The print is dedicated to a person named "John Shirley," who was the huntsman to the "Burton Hunt," and it is further dedicated to Sir Richard Sutton, Baronet ("Bart.") by his "obedient servant," presumably the artist or publisher. The print appears to be by R.B. Davis, as indicated by the signature and the reference at the bottom.
