About the Item
A finely executed early 20th century British watercolour depicting sailing vessels on the Venice Lagoon with St. Mark’s in the distance. Signed (faintly) bottom right W. Knox. Mounted using archival materials and set within a fine silvered albeit later frame, retaining its original titled artist’s plaque.
Dimensions, (sight) 10” high x 14” wide, (framed) 12.25” high x 16.5” wide.
Wilfred Knox was a noted British watercolourist & member of the R.B.A. (Royal Society of British Artists), who painted marine & coastal views and was known for working in a distinctly ‘Turneresque’ manner.
