Painted canvas figuring three black, white and red koi carps. Blue background with gilt flowers and branches.
Linen raw canvas hand painted with natural pigments and gilt motifs realized with copper leaf. Canvas stretched thanks to two wood sticks and the lower one is removable, permitting to roll it for the shipping.
French contemporary work.
The carp is a symbol of perseverance and courage in Chinese culture because it tries to migrate upstream. A Chinese legend said that carps of the Yellow River capable to jump over the Dragon Door, turn into dragon to fly through the sky. This story, related to the importance of the animal symbolism in the Chinese culture, shows that efforts and courage allowed to progress and to overcame life difficulties, giving indeed a beautiful hope and determination message to the people admiring carps!
