André Eugène Louis CHOCHON, a French painter from Brittany, was born in Rennes in 1910. The son of two illustrious Rennes families, he began his training at the Beaux Arts de Rennes with the painter Jules Ronsin (1867-1937), he continued his apprenticeship in Paris under the tutelage of Lucien Simon (1861-1945 ). By 1933, he was exhibiting his work at the "Société des Artistes Français", revealing a unique style that quickly propelled him onto the French art scene. He came second in the prestigious Grand Prix de Rome in 1938, and went on to develop a rich and varied body of work, now held in major public collections including the "Centre Georges Pompidou Paris" and the "Musée des Beaux-Arts" in Rennes, as well as in private collections.
