Oil painting on paper mounted on wood panel, by French artist André Eugène Louis CHOCHON (1910 - 2005). Framed in an antique frame (with Marie-Louise) from the 1950s. Beautiful pictorial composition from the 50s and 60s. The lively quays of the Seine (view of the former Ile Louviers) with a view of Notre-Dame de Paris. --- Signed lower right “CHOCHON”. --- André Eugène Louis CHOCHON, a French painter from Brittany, was born in Rennes in 1910. The son of two illustrious Rennes families, he began his training at the Beaux Arts de Rennes with the painter Jules Ronsin (1867-1937), he continued his apprenticeship in Paris under the tutelage of Lucien Simon (1861-1945 ). By 1933, he was exhibiting his work at the "Société des Artistes Français", revealing a unique style that quickly propelled him onto the French art scene. He came second in the prestigious Grand Prix de Rome in 1938, and went on to develop a rich and varied body of work, now held in major public collections including the "Centre Georges Pompidou Paris" and the "Musée des Beaux-Arts" in Rennes, as well as in private collections. --- Dimensions : With frame: 31.5 x 36.5 cm / 12.40 x 14.37 in.
